Business Confidence Survey

Project : Completed projects

Description :

Project Coordinator: M. H. Khaleque
Project Duration: Nine Months
Development Partner: IFC-BICF

Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) is undertaking a Business Confidence Survey in collaboration with Centre for Policy Dialogue and International Financial Corporation Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund (IFC-BICF), a branch of the World Bank Group.

The survey will gather mostly qualitative information on business confidence from manufacturing and services companies along several quantifiable dimensions, including past performance, current performance and expected future performance in the short term. Outcome of the survey will be analyzed and reports published based on the outcomes which will be disseminated.

Assessments will be made in order to monitor the current business situation in the country and predict short-term developments. The assessment will also address the state of the Private Sector and provide indications about turning points in the business cycle and any possible deeper problems that can be analyzed further. Utilizing the results of the survey, BICF will seek to aid the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) how businesses perceive the business environment in the country and what effect these perceptions may have on their investment decisions. The outcomes will also provide the GoB with evidence on how well specific reforms or initiatives such as the Bangladesh Better Business Forum are working. This information can be utilized to fine-tune existing initiatives and/or develop new ones to promote the Private Sector in Bangladesh.
