BEI observed Corporate Governance (CG) Week
2008 from
January 13 to January 17, 2008. The theme of the week was
Corporate Governance for Growth, Development and Sustainability
with the objective to ensure competitiveness and sustainable growth
of both the public and the private sectors through exchange and
sharing of views and ideas.
The inauguration of CG Week 2008 was held on
Sunday, January 13, 2008
from 09:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the Grand Ball Room of Dhaka
Sheraton Hotel.
Dr. A. B. Mirza Md. Azizul
Islam, Honourable Adviser, Ministry of Finance and
Planning, Government of Bangladesh, inaugurated the programme as the
Chief Guest.
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Governor,
Bangladesh
Bank, and
Mr. Faruq Ahmad Siddiqi, Chairman, Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) of Bangladesh,
were present as Special Guests.
The week long event included the following programmes:

Bangladesh
The inauguration was
attended by over 150 renowned leaders and experts from various
sectors, including diplomatic missions, civil societies
organizations, regulatory bodies, state-owned enterprises,
academics, banks and non-banking financial institutions,
insurance companies, multinational companies, private and public
companies, stock exchanges, professional institutions, prominent
NGOs and media professionals.
