The closing ceremony of the Corporate Governance Week, 2008 was organized by the BEI on January 17, 2008 at the BEI conference room

The main objective of the programmes of the corporate governance week, 2008 was to provide the stakeholders with an opportunity to explore, exchange, and disseminate information on different contemporary issues and developments of corporate governance around the world and provide recommendations on how Bangladesh can take advantage by ensuring good CG practices. The expected impact from these programmes is to strengthen CG practices and create a more enlightened constituency in Bangladesh.

The closing ceremony of the Corporate Governance Week, 2008 was followed by the Prize giving ceremony of the essay competition on Principles and Practices of Corporate Governance in Bangladesh, held on May 25, 2007 at BEI.

The objective of the essay competition was to generate awareness and increase knowledge among the student community about the importance of CG practices in Bangladesh.

Ms[t1] . Selima Ahmed, President, Bangladesh Women Entrepreneurs Association; Mr. A. Gafur, Executive Director, American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham); Mr. ASM. Mainuddin Monem, Deputy Director, Abdul Monem Limited; Mr. S.M. Abdul Mannan, Member of BEI’s Board of Governors, distributed the prizes and certificates to the winners of the essay competition. About 43 individuals, including graduate and post graduate students from the leading business schools, attended the programme.
