BEI organized a seminar on Corporate Governance Strategy for the Chairmen of the Financial Institutions of Bangladesh at the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel on January 13, 2008. The objective of the seminar was to discuss ways to develop the right strategy for the financial institutions of Bangladesh to ensure competitiveness and sustainability.

 Dr. YRK Reddy, Founder of the Academy of Corporate Governance (ACG), Hyderabad, India and Mr. K. Padmakumar, Secretary, Public Sector Restructuring and Internal Audit Board (RIAB), Government of India, were the speakers at the programme.

Dr. Reddy and Mr. Padmakumar explained the importance of having a right strategy for an organization for sustainability and competitiveness. They also discussed the international reality about the reforms of corporate governance standards and pointed out the realized benefits of reformation of corporate governance standards, such as, improved valuation of assets, improved access to capital, improved operational efficiency, improved strategy and risk management, and improved position in factor markets.

They mentioned that the need for right strategy came into spotlight after the Asian Financial Crisis and corporate scandals like Enron were focused in the media.

Ltd, participated in the seminar.
